Title: Regarding the Ads/ forum rules

Zoom - July 22, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
As you may have noticed, the ads have started appearing again. <_< I thought our ad removal credits would last a lot longer than a week, but growing so fast, and everyone being posting monsters, we quickly went through all the credits. So we have had to reconsider how we handle the ads and who gets to see them or not. Clicking the ads DOES NOT help us in anyway, just to let you know.

Here is what we are going to do. All members of the Cavegirls will permanently see no ads, regardless of how little they post here. All guests and registered members of our forums will see the ads.

So how can you get rid of them? You have two options. We will reward our most active members (when they hit a certain post count, to be determined) by moving them to a special group that sees no ads. The other option is donating. I have provided a donation button on top of the board that you may use to make a donation. Any amount would be helpful! Anyone who makes a donation, will automatically get moved to the special no-ads group regardless of the amount posts they have. All payments made through the donation link will be used for ad removal credits. PM me if you rather not use paypal.

I will be adding a couple more rules to the forum rules, so please be sure to read those. By posting on our forums, you are agreeing you have read and understand the rules. We want to have a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere here and we will not hesitate to remove those who appear to be creating a hostile enviroment.

And finally... more emoticons. :yahoo:

Umm Zoomie... I'm still seeing ads...

Swordfish2Cowboy - July 23, 2006 06:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but it says $0.15 for 1,000 pageviews, can you even make a separate group that doesn't see ads, or does it affect the whole site for everyone?

Zoom - July 23, 2006 07:19 AM (GMT)
Yes, we can control which groups are allowed to see the ads or not. All Cavegirl groups will be "no ad" groups along with one group for very active members once they reach a certain post count.

Wow those credits went by quick. Most likely yall will do this anyways but yall will keep that post quiet correct. Because some might just spam to get to it. The ads dont bother me as long as there are no pop ups. Those i dislike greatly. Wonder if i could get my parents to allow me to donate. Ill have to try

Swordfish2Cowboy - July 23, 2006 08:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah but they could just spam anyway.

Damn it, I clicked it again, this time with the right mouse button. :(

well i don't mind the ads, i don't see them anywhere i go (<3 firefox + adblock, sorry if i seem to be preaching it but really, it works, and i love it >.>) so if you need me to do a bunch of page views or anything, i could just refresh a bunch of times (if that works) or something. whatever i can do to help really, lol. (incase doing refresh is NOT the way to go, i'm not doing it for the time being <.<)

Datdamsniper - July 23, 2006 09:20 AM (GMT)
more page views i believe equals worst lol. Best thing to do is donate using that nice little paypal button in the top left corner almost.

Correct.

Swordfish2Cowboy - July 23, 2006 09:45 AM (GMT)
lol there's an ad for Halo 4.

Zoom - July 23, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
Refreshing the page over and over does not help us. I have already specified a certain post count that will move the more active members to the no-ads group. No, I will not tell you the post number, but if there is any spamming, you you will be suspended without a warning.

Vel, can you please tell us more about Firefox + Adblock? I have firefox and just downloaded the adblock. Still trying to figure out how to use it.

There will only be banner ads at the top and bottom of the board. There are no pop-ups. Banner ads aren't that bad, so hopefully they don't bother you too much. If they do, you can try to get an adblocker. If you need help with that, try talking to Vel. Thanks.

The ads aren't that bad. Although that one with the woman smiling scared the crap out of me the other night.

Zoom - July 23, 2006 06:01 PM (GMT)
Yea, they aren't that bad.. except that scary lady. If any of you are feeling adventurous, I wrote up a little guide that will help you disable ads using Firefox:

How to disable the Ads
